Five Children on the Western Front

This is a book written by Kate Saunders and published in 2014, for children aged between 7 and 12 years which follows on from E. Nesbit's Five Children and It stories. It follows the Great War and its effects on the cililian population in England.  The children have "It" a "beeing" from ancient times who has the ability to transport them to different times and different places.  It is an easy, pacey read and allows the reader to consider different aspects of the War and its effects, not least on those who return wounded and those who do not return.
