At 13.00 on the 30 July 1915 the Isle of Wight Rifles, together with the rest of 163 Brigade, left the quayside at Liverpool on board the Aquitania bound for Gallipoli. They arrived on Imbros, an island off the coast of Gallipoli, on the 8 August and from there were transferred in landing ships to the beaches of Suvla Bay.
